Chikmagalur, one of the most picturesque hill towns in Karnataka, is referred to as the “Coffee Land of Karnataka” and is located in the Mullayangiri Range’s foothills. Due to the abundance of coffee farms in Chikmagalur, the smell of coffee permeates the entire city. In addition to producing coffee, Chikmagalur is known for its lofty mountains, verdant forests, and calm climate. It is a popular tourist destination and a convenient getaway for Karnataka residents.

Chikmagalur is mostly known for its coffee because it is the largest producer of beans in the nation. So having a stroll around one (or several) of the many coffee estates in the city is a must-do activity if you’re a coffee fan and a nature lover. Many of these coffee estates offer homestays directly on the grounds, so you can literally start and end your day with the aroma of coffee in the air, in addition to offering guests guided tours of the farms.

Chikmagalur is a very popular trekking spot and boasts many incredible trekking trails, such as the Mullayangiri trek, the Kemmanagundi trek, and the Baba Budangiri trek. Mullayangiri is the highest peak in all of Karnataka and is the best place to get a perfect view of the sun rising from behind the mountains.
